People of the Year award.
“Headed home—they are just buying take out because nobody has eaten yet. W/ no heels—this is our true height disparity… Tonight—I forced myself to go to Sofitel for @peopleasia @peopleoftheyear2018 awarding ceremony because it was my way of showing all of you that NOT GIVING UP is what makes you a winner.
“I distinctly recall a meeting, in all fairness a very well meaning one—meant to help me get back on track during the 4th quarter of 2016—and 1 of the ‘suggestions’ given to me was to refrain from wearing yellow.
“Well, as you probably all know I like marching to the beat of my own drum. PINK has always been my favorite color—but I wore a yellow @roland_mouret gown tonight because the fact is—tonight’s recognition happened because KCAP & I did it our way.
“We had no choice but to be outliers & disruptors. We had no recourse but to have the courage to take a risk, and guess what, the AUTHENTICITY is working. And I owe all this to you, the online community that has welcomed me when traditional broadcast media felt they no longer wanted nor needed me.
“So tonight is just me never getting tired of saying THANK YOU & I shall continue striving to be worthy of all the opportunities you have generously embraced me with.”
