“Bela Padilla on her love for writing and acting: ‘I prioritize both’”

Bela Padilla shares her secret to finding inspiration for new stories.

After earning her writing credits in films like Last Night, 10,000 Hours, Luck at First Sight, and this year’s recent digital film Apple of My Eye, Bela Padilla said she is passionate for her work both behind and in front of the camera. “It’s like another job, parang ganun. I prioritize both writing and acting. Hindi siya parang I love one more than the other. I like doing both equally. Basta walang work, nag-ta-try akong mag gawa ng ideas,” she explained.

After taking part in Ricky Lee’s prestigious scriptwriting workshop in 2017, Bela has never stopped finding inspiration for writing new stories. “Napansin ko ngayon umaaliis ako. Dati gustong gusto ko sa kuwarto nagsusulat. Ngayon umaalis ako so last weekend nag-Tagaytay ako ng overnight para magsulat. Pag gabi may naiisip ako kailangan may tawagan ako or sabihan para ipaalala sa akin the next day (laughs). Pero di ba after mapanaginipan mo, after a while nawawala? So parang sayang (laughs). So mas dun nakatutok yung isip ko,” she shared.

One of Bela’s idols when it comes to being a multi-talented artist is Oscar-nominated American playwright Greta Gerwig.
