Parokya ni Edgar singer Chito Miranda shares how the lockdown has helped him live a healthier life.

With the local entertainment industry being one of the hardest hit businesses during the pandemic, celebrities and artists are finding themselves adjusting to the new normal that is far from their usual hectic lifestyle. Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda, who is based in Tagaytay city along with his wife Neri and their son Miguel, shared in his most recent Instagram post last September 16 a photo of a view from inside their home in the South.

The OPM artist got reflective as he looked back on how he was living his life before the lockdown.  He wrote, “This is what I wake up to every morning. Maaga na ako magising ngayon. Madalas before 8 am gising na ko, eh. Maaga na rin kasi ako matulog. Kadalasan naka-higa na ko by 11 pm, tapos tulog na ko around midnight.

“I can’t help but compare it sa lifestyle ko dati bago mag-lockdown.

“Being in a band, I need to be at my peak pag gabi. Ang ibig sabihin, gising na gising dapat ako tuwing gabi…so basically, puyat ako regularly mula nung 17yrs old ako hahaha! Staying up ’til dawn, always being on the road, and living on an unhealthy diet. Mabuti nga natigil ko yung yosi 5 years ago eh. Can you imagine?”

The 44-year-old singer admitted he is now leading a healthier lifestyle because of the regular schedule he keeps at home. “Di na rin ako umiinom masyado. Well, honestly, drinking has never been a problem naman kasi minsan lang naman ako tumodo, but the frequency of drinking was sometimes a concern because halos araw araw ang tugtugan ng Parokya…at least ngayon, paminsan-minsan na lang hehe! Ngayon kasi tea and soy milk nalang ang kadalasang iniinom ko eh haha!

“I guess tumanda na ko.

“Or maybe, the novelty of my rock & roll lifestyle has worn off. Pucha naman, diba? I’ve been living like that even before I legally became an adult haha!

“I still enjoy being in a band (tapos Parokya pa!), writing and recording songs, performing with my closest friends who I’ve known my entire life, and getting paid just to have fun…but I think I’ve fallen in love, and have grown accustomed to this new lifestyle: healthy, stress-free, and spending every day with my family,” he wrote.

In the same post, the Parokya vocalist reveals that he and his bandmates are currently working on a new album this year.

Tutugtog pa rin ako syempre (gumagawa nga kami ng bagong album eh), pero I guess I’ve simply outgrown the lifestyle…pero don’t worry, I will never outgrow the band. Feeling senti. Might delete later tho…idk. #WokeUpLikeThis
