Clark International Airport
Clark International Airport Corporation is targeting to hit the 2.5-million passenger mark by December as it named Clark Airport as “one of the busiest” ports in the country.
Jaime Melo, CIAC president and chief executive officer, said on Monday that the management was aiming to hit the said mark by the third week of December in time for the Christmas season.
“CRK is now one of the country’s busiest airports and this 2.5-million passenger mark is another record-breaking milestone for Clark,” Melo said in a statement.
CRK is the international code for the Clark International Airport.
“At present, CRK sustains 390 domestic and 184 international flights weekly. We are also targeting at least 11 domestic and 24 international destinations for next year,” Melo added.
According to the data of CIAC, about 242,840 passengers were catered by the airport for May, its highest number recorded for its monthly monitoring.
Meanwhile, the higher number of passengers that went in and out of Clark was recorded on August 17 with 11,472 passengers.
The management attributed the increase of passengers in Clark to the encouragement of the government to airline companies to use the said airport.
This, according to Melo, has contributed to the lessening of passengers in other airports in Metro Manila.
“The increase in the number of passengers here at the Clark Airport means we help ease congestion at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and in Metro Manila, and at the same time increase economic activities in the central and northern regions,” Melo said.
The CIAC targets to record a total of 4,457,046 passengers flying in and out of its airport by the end of 2022.
