MANILA, Philippine – Light Right Transit line 1 (LRT-1) passengers can now donate to a worthy cause through their beep cards.
AF Payments Incorporated, the company behind the beep card, announced on Monday that it has partnered with Light Rail Manila Corporation, operator of LRT-1, for passengers to virtually donate to Bantay Bata 163 at the Central Terminal and the Roosevelt, Balintawak, D. Jose, Gil Puyat, EDSA – Taft, Monumento and Baclaran stations.
“We are pleased to make our technology available to Bantay Bata 163 to make the act of donating and collecting donations more convenient for all,” Peter Maher, president and CEO of AF Payments Inc, said in a statement.
“A simple tap with your beep™ card at the Bantay Bata kiosk allows you to share your blessings with the kids of the foundation,” he added.
According to Maher, P5 will be donated to Bantay Bata 163 each time a passenger taps his or her loaded beep card.
A “Thank you po” message will be heard with after every tap.
Donations will be deposited by the company to the foundation’s bank account on a daily basis by electronic means.
The beep card is a reloadable payment card used in LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 and select buses, public utility vehicles, tollways, and retail partners.
“Our technology is beneficial not only to commercial entities but to charitable organizations as well,” Muher said.
Bantay Bata 163 is the child welfare arm of the Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation with the aim of giving hope to Filipino children and their families through the support of various individuals and organizations around the world.
The Bantay Bata kiosks save the foundation operational costs in terms of the deployment of cans, collection, counting, bank deposit, and the like, thereby allowing it to reallocate manpower to where it’s needed more. / gsg
