Duterte names ex-military official as DSWD undersecretary

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed another retired military official to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Duterte named former Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Maj. Gen. Rene Glen Paje as DSWD undersecretary.

The President signed Paje’s appointment paper last Friday, February 15, 2019.

Paje served as deputy chief of staff for civil military operations. He also served as a commander of the First Scout Ranger Regiment.

Paje led the Scout Rangers during the Marawi siege, the biggest crisis of the military in recent years.
