Duterte renews caution to Inday Sara against running for president

MANILA, Philippines- President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday renewed his wish for daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio not to run in 2022 as he lamented the presidency.

“Kung may mag-ambisyon sa’yo, wag ka talagang magkamali. Kaya si Inday, ayaw ko. Wag niyong demonyohin yang anak ko kasi maawa ako sa kanya. Anak ko yan e. Pag presidente, baka mainsulto kayo,” Duterte said in his speech during his visit to Cotabato.

(If someone pushes you, don’t make a mistake. That’s why I don’t want Inday [Sara Duterte] to run. Don’t push my daughter to run because I will pity her. She’s my daughter. If you become a President, you will be insulted.)

This is not the first time for the President to caution his daughter from running for the presidency.

Last year, Duterte said he regretted running for president due to insurmountable problems he had to face.

Meanwhile, Sara previously said she has no plans to run for President in 2022, but the presidential daughter also said she was not closing her doors on such possibility, adding she would possibly decide by January 2021.
