EXCLUSIVE: Ryan Bang proud of torchbearer stint at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics 2018
Ryan Bang meets Goblin’s Lee Dong Wook at the torch relay event.
Ryan Bang marked a personal milestone by becoming a torchbearer for the upcoming Pyeongchang Winter Olympics 2018.
The Gangwon Province Tourism Ambassador recalled his recent trip to Korea.
“Kinuha nila akong representative ng Philippines para maging isang member ng torchbearer sa torch relay,” he shared in an exclusive interview with PUSH.
According to Ryan, his stint was part of the Winter Olympics pre-opening program.
“Natutuwa ako kasi representative ako ng Philippines tapos hindi naman tayo nag-snow pero sumali pala tayo sa winter Olympics,” he said. “Meron pang dalawang players, yung isa sa ski, yung isa sa male ice skating.”
Ryan revealed that he wasn’t asked to run during the torch relay.
“Nagulat ako kasi nag-practice ako sa treadmill ng mga isang buwan,” he joked.
Ryan added, “Yun pala pinasakay nila ako sa hot air balloon para sa torch relay.”
The Korean actor shared that his hot air balloon trip above Gangwon Province was done in chilly -19 degree weather.
Nevertheless, Ryan is very proud that he has brought honor to his family.
“Na-proud sa akin ang Mommy ko at Daddy ko,” he said.
The 2018 Winter Olympics torch relay, which began in October 24, 2017 in Greece, will eventually finish on February 9 at the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium.
The Banana Sundae star also mingled with big wigs during the torch relay event.
Among the big stars that he got to mingle with was Goblin’s Lee Dong Wook.
“Na-meet ko and gusto nila akong imbitahin sa March 13, sa concert ni Lee Dong Wook ng Goblin. Bonding daw kami ni Lee Dong Wook,” shared Ryan.
Unfortunately though, Ryan might not be able to honor the invitation due to his own projects in the country.
