Faustino “Inno” Dy V, the national president of the Liga ng mga Barangay (LNB), said on Tuesday that no public funds were used to buy the T-shirts given away during the 4th LNB Mindanao Island Congress held from March 4-6, 2019, in Davao City, contrary to the allegation of Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano.
In a statement, Dy said: “We can assure the public that no public funds from the LNB or the individual barangays were used to purchase campaign materials of any candidate. The LNB remains an apolitical association of punong barangays.”
“The T-shirts referred to by Congressman Gary Alejano in his statement were sent by Bayan For Bong Go,” Dy added. “It is a private organization of individuals who are supportive of the candidacy of former SAP [Special Assistant to the President] Bong Go and all the shirts were donated by the said organization to all the participants of the Liga ng mga Barangay Mindanao Island Assembly,” Dy added.
Go is a candidate in the senatorial slate of President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Dy, Go himself did not consent and had no knowledge of the donation made by the private organization.
