MANILA, Philippines–A prison guard inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) was wounded after an inmate stabbed him inside the NBP premises in Muntinlupa, reports reaching the Department of Justice (DOJ) disclosed on Thursday.
This was confirmed by Justice Undersecretary Deo Marco in a text message. He received a raw report about the incident.
Meanwhile, in an initial report from the Muntinlupa police showed that a Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) inspector identified only as “Ferrer” was stabbed by a certain “Wilson” inside the maximum security compound of the NBP at around 8:30 a.m.
Cabral told INQUIRER.net in a text message that the police will have to coordinate with the BuCor for the full report of the incident.
The DOJ ordered BuCor to make a full report on the incident.
“Already requested for a formal report from OIC DG Buenafe [Assistant Secretary Melvin Ramon Buenafe],” Marco said.
No word yet on the condition of the NPB guard as investigations are still unfolding as of this posting. /jpv
