Just one month before he passed away, Mac Miller sat down in the studio for a Spotify Singles session, and we’re finally hearing the incredible music that came out of it. In addition to stripping down the song “Dunno” off his 2018 album Swimming, the late singer covered Billy Preston’s 1974 hit “Nothing from Nothing.” Both songs show an emotional side to Miller’s unforgettable voice. Spotify is also giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the session with Miller, his guitar, and the piano in an intimate video.
Miller died in September after an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner added that his death was “due to mixed drug toxicity.” He was 26 years old. Listen to the two posthumously released songs ahead, and see more footage from Miller’s Spotify Singles session.
